About the game
Vice City, Leonida, and the pair Rockstar put up front
Grand Theft Auto VI launches November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The story follows Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos in Vice City, inside the fictional state of Leonida, inspired by Florida. Rockstar describes a score that goes wrong and a conspiracy that crosses the state.
On August 27, 2026 the studio released Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look: nearly 27 minutes of gameplay captured on PS5. That is the long official preview, not Trailer 3. Pre-orders have been open since June 25: $79.99 for Standard and $99.99 for Ultimate.
This countdown is a fan project. Dates, prices, and platforms come from Rockstar, Take-Two, and the official stores. The editions and long guides sit further down the page.

Frequently Asked Questions
Official release details and how this countdown works
- When does GTA 6 release?
- Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19, 2026. Rockstar Games announced the date alongside pre-order details on June 18, 2026. The release applies to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. No PC release date has been confirmed. This countdown uses that official date and updates in real time until launch day.
- Is the November 19, 2026 date official?
- Yes. Rockstar confirmed November 19, 2026 in an official Newswire post when pre-orders were announced. Earlier marketing referenced a broader fall 2025 window before Rockstar delayed the game to May 2026 and later set the November 2026 date. We only display dates Rockstar has published publicly.
- Which platforms will GTA VI be on at launch?
- PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S are confirmed for day one. Official store pages are live. Rockstar has not announced a PC version or last-gen consoles. If that changes, we will update this page and the release section.
- When do GTA 6 pre-orders open?
- Pre-orders opened June 25, 2026 at midnight local time. Standard is $79.99. Ultimate is $99.99. Buy before November 20 and you get the Vintage Vice City Pack; digital purchases also include one month of GTA+. Check PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, or Rockstar Store in your region.
- How does this countdown timer work?
- The timer counts down to midnight in your local timezone on November 19, 2026. It recalculates every second using your device clock. Fullscreen mode hides navigation and ads so you can keep the timer on screen. You can also add the release to Google Calendar or download an .ics file from the hero section.
- Is this site affiliated with Rockstar Games?
- No. GTAVI Countdown is an independent fan project. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive. All trademarks belong to their owners. For official news, visit rockstargames.com/VI and Rockstar Newswire.
- Where does the news on this site come from?
- Homepage cards summarize public announcements and link to our English guides. Each guide cites Rockstar, Take-Two, PlayStation, Xbox, or other reference outlets. Official sources remain the authority.
- Will the release date change again?
- Only Rockstar can change the date. GTA VI was delayed before, so any future change is possible until launch. If Rockstar posts an update, we will adjust the countdown, calendar files, and release section. Follow Rockstar Newswire for the first official notice.
- How much does GTA 6 cost, and which editions exist?
- Standard is $79.99. Ultimate is $99.99. Ultimate adds extra vehicles, weapons, and clothes. Anyone with Standard can upgrade later. The Goodtime State Vice City Collection ($399.99) is merchandise and does not include the game.
- Does the physical box include a disc?
- No. Rockstar Support says the physical version contains a download code. There is no disc in the box. Stores can hand those boxes out from November 12 for preload. There is no physical Ultimate.
- Is there a PC version?
- Rockstar has not announced a PC date. On November 19, 2026 the game launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. If that changes, we will update this page.
- What is An Extended Look?
- It is the long official preview from August 2026: nearly 27 minutes of PS5 gameplay. It premiered on Netflix on August 27 and later on YouTube. Rockstar did not call it Trailer 3. There is a guide in the articles section.
- Was there a GTA VI hack in August?
- Yes. In mid-August unauthorized videos circulated. On August 26 Rockstar said it had been heartbreaking for the team and asked people to wait for November 19. The date did not change. We cover the impact, not the leaked footage, in the hack article.
